Traditionally, when you sell your home, you want to get as many people in to see your property as possible; open houses and frequent tours from potential buyers are the norm.

But social distancing is changing all of that—and if you want to sell your home in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, you need to offer ways for would-be buyers to experience your home virtually.

recent survey from found that, if given access to the right information and technology features, nearly ¼ of respondents (24 percent) would be willing to buy a home without seeing it in person. The number is even higher for younger homebuyers, at 29 percent.

But what information and tech features do buyers need to make a purchase? According to the survey, the features most important to would-be buyers when making a decision about buying a property remotely include:

  • A virtual tour of the home (61 percent)
  • Accurate, detailed listing information (58 percent)
  • Accurate, detailed neighborhood information (53 percent)
  • High-quality listing photos (51 percent)
  • A video walk-through with their real estate agent (39 percent)

The Takeaway:

So, what does this mean for you? If you’re trying to sell your home during the coronavirus pandemic, it’s important to know what features and information buyers need to make a decision—and make sure you adjust your listing to give buyers what they want.
